THE FILIPPO WOOD OVEN RESTAURANT AND CAFÉ WAS CONCEPTUALIZED AS AN ENTRANCE AND EXIT TERRACE. IT CONSISTS OF A FAÇADE OF MOVABLE GLASS AND ACRYLIC DOORS, WHICH ALLOWS THE SPACE TO BE COMPLETELY OPEN TO THE TWO STREETS FACING THE SITE. THERE IS THE FLEXIBILITY TO PARTIALLY OPEN THE SPACE OR NOT, DEPENDING ON WEATHER CONDITIONS.
THE COMPOSITION OF THE SPACE CONSISTS OF AN ALL EXPOSED CONCRETE CEILING, CONCRETE COLUMNS AND SLAB, PARTITIONS IN PERFORATED WOOD PANELS AND PERFORATED GOLD METAL PANELS, A MIX OF BLACK, PINK AND WOOD, TERRAZZO AND MARBLE COUNTERTOPS, AND A MIX OF WOOD AND UPHOLSTERED. CHAIRS, WHICH CREATE AN INDUSTRIAL, COOL AND DELICATE LOOK.
WE CREATED A GOLD METAL BOX TO HIDE THE KITCHEN, SERVING AREA AND CONTAIN THE BAR AND PIZZA OVEN COUNTER.
IN THE MAIN LIVING AREA, WE CREATED A PIECE OF FURNITURE TO DIVIDE THE SPACE INTO TWO DISTINCT DINING AREAS: AN INFORMAL CAFÉ AREA WITH SMALLER TABLES AND THE MAIN RESTAURANT. WE ALSO CREATED A PRIVATE ROOM FOR PRIVATE DINING TUCKED AWAY FROM THE MAIN DINING AREA.
WE ADDED PLANTS AND TREES ON THE OUTDOOR TERRACE AND SOME PLANTERS INSIDE TO REINFORCE THE LOOK AND FEEL OF BEING OUTDOORS WHILE DINING. IN THIS WAY, THE RESTAURANT TERRACE BLENDS IN WITH THE TREES AND GREENERY ON THE STREET. FILIPPO IS A PLACE FROM BREAKFAST, LUNCH, COFFEE TO EVENING DRINKS. IT TRANSFORMS FROM DAY TO NIGHT, WITH A LIGHTING DESIGN THAT GIVES TEXTURE AND EXCITEMENT TO THE SPACE. WE WERE ABLE TO CHANGE THE ATMOSPHERE FROM DAY TO NIGHT AND FOLLOW THE VIBE OF THE RESTAURANT IN ITS DIFFERENT STAGES.
